2013 Champions League Semi-final ~ Bayern Munchen vs FC Barcelona (Full Match)

Barcelona, the club that has dominated world football for nearly a decade with its tried and true style of patiently looking for a gap in the opponent´s defense, is taking on Bayern, the team that, in the German Bundesliga at least, has demonstrated to be capable of scoring in more ways than one: set-pieces, crosses from the wing and quick counter-attacks as well as Barca-style build-ups. The question is now whether Bayern can show the same class against truly world-class opposition.

Barcelona have failed to impress in the big games this season, except for that one miraculous comeback against AC Milan – which ended 4-0 – a perfect revenge for the 4-0 defeat Barca suffered in 1994. Can Barca pull off another masterclass against Bayern – the club that only 4 years ago, they defeated with 4-0?

Bayern Munchen a true class team, the best from 2010 tell now , reminds me of the 1972 west germany team

    The end of an era?

Barca fans will be mighty happy with Real’s result. At least Barca are still Li Liga champions.

also reminds me of Barca’s 4-0 lose against Milan in 1994 that ended the Barca Dream Team Era

Yeah after that match Cruyff took radical measures, kicked out Laudrup and Zubi, among others, and tried to build a new team from scratch. Don’t think that will happen now. What Barca most needs are one or two speedy wingers who can dribble and score, so that (1) not everything depends on Messi, and (2) they can start using counter-attacks.

Neymar is the obvious choice, and with Götze going to Bayern, Robben would be a good addition too.

Villa, Pedro and Alexis have failed.

I would prefer Reus to Neymar. And they need a reliable central defender as well.
But the main thing Barca needs to change is the coaching staff. Vilanova proved numerous times that he’s a bad motivator and a weak tactician.

Problem with Neymar is that he has never been impressive against quality opposition. Yeah, he’s showing genius stuff in the Sao Paulo state league, but faced with decent defenders in the Copa Libertadores, Copa America and Olympics, he hasn’t been able to replicate his form. He needs lots of time and space, and doesn’t seem to be as good without those. In other words, he’d be quite useless with Barcelona’s current tactics.

On the other hand, his arrival (which seems almost guaranteed) might prompt Barca to switch strategy more and opt more often for quick counters when opportunity arises. Which would be a good thing.
